This handmade glass flycatcher is a natural and chemical-free way to catch flies and fruit flies at home, in the cottage, or on the terrace. Each flycatcher is handcrafted and combines practical use with the heritage of Estonian glass art.

How to use

Fill the vessel with a sweet liquid, such as lemonade, cider, or beer, and close the stopper. Flies and fruit flies fly into the vessel through the bottom opening. Once inside, they can no longer find their way out and remain trapped.

Unlike chemical repellents, the glass flycatcher emits no toxins or unpleasant odors. This way, you can keep your home, summer kitchen, or terrace pleasantly fly-free in a simple and natural way.

But this flycatcher is much more than just a practical tool.

Glass flycatchers have been made in various Estonian glassworks and factories since the early 20th century and are part of our long glassblowing history. I learned to make this flycatcher from Tarbeklaas master Mihhail Mišalagin, who worked as a glassblower for over 60 years. He, in turn, acquired his skills from Estonia’s first glass masters, whose roots go back to the historic Eidapere and Meleski glassworks.

I’ve brought this historical and practical item back in a new look and fresh tones, so everyone can find the perfect color for their home. Even when there are no flies to catch, this beautiful handmade glass piece is a unique interior element that catches the eye and carries on the legacy of Estonian glass masters.
